Habakkuk 2:4 — 1QpHab quotation state

A reusable research record with provenance and relationships kept separate from the presentation layer.

MANUSCRIPT_EVIDENCEMS_HAB_2_4_1QPHAB

Evidence state: documented fact

1QpHab cites Habakkuk 2:4a in column 7, but the line where Habakkuk 2:4b would have been lemmatized is completely mutilated. Modern reconstruction of 2:4b follows the pesher’s regular lemma/comment pattern; v51 therefore marks 2:4b RECONSTRUCTED rather than EXTANT.

What this does not establish

No extant letters of Habakkuk 2:4b survive in the mutilated line described by the cited study.
A scholarly reconstruction cannot be displayed as REPORTED_DIRECT_WITNESS.
The pesher’s sectarian interpretation is not part of the biblical text.
Scope boundary: This record intentionally refuses to present a reconstructed Habakkuk 2:4b wording as surviving manuscript text. The extant pesher comment is stored in a separate INTERPRETATION record.
Extant / reconstructed boundaries
Habakkuk 2:4acol. 7 lines 14–15EXTANT · Lim reports the half-verse as cited here.
Habakkuk 2:4bcol. 7 line 17RECONSTRUCTED · The line is completely mutilated; reconstruction is based on the lemmatizing pattern and following interpretation.
pesher formula/commentcol. 8 lines 1–3EXTANT_INTERPRETIVE_EXPANSION · Belongs to interpretation, not to the biblical quotation.
